The on-site Cryostat Workshop is completed in just nine months, in April. Procured under the responsibility of the Indian Domestic Agency by the industrial giant Larsen & Toubro (also responsible for manufacturing the cryostat), the facility is erected by the French company Spie Batignolles.
On 4 September, the very first finalized plant components are delivered to ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ—12 high voltage surge arrestors supplied by the US Domestic Agency. Like the deliveries to follow, the components are temporarily stored in the Poloidal Field Coils Winding Facility (pictured).
The 110-metre-long, 44-metre-wide and 27-metre-high Cryostat Workshop is inaugurated on 21 November. The building will now be equipped to host the welding and assembly operations of the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ cryostat before the first cryostat segments are shipped from India mid-2015.
Work begins in 2014 on the steel structure of the Assembly Building. Eleven 60-metre pillars along either side of the basemat will support the roof of the structure and the powerful overhead cranes for Tokamak assembly. Five 12-metre pillars will be stacked to reach 60 metres; in December, the first second-level pillars are installed.
Behind the hill that overlooks the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ platform, construction has begun on the largest of five storage facilities planned for ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ components. The 9,000 m2 warehouse, which will be completed in 2015, will accommodate non-HEL (Highly Exceptional Load) components.
